The nativity scene route is a Christmas tradition not to be missed in Palma. Every corner of the city comes alive with these detailed displays. Of particular note is the Belén de Cort, in Palma City Hall, dazzling year-on-year with it authenticity. It can be visited from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 8.30 pm and weekends and public holidays from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm. The La Misericordia Nativity Scene is also outstanding, with miniature figures recreating traditional scenes.
Christmas markets
Christmas markets are at the heart of Mallorca’s celebrations; a truly magical experience as you immerse yourself in the spirit of the season. In the Parque de las Estaciones, the stalls fill the atmosphere with irresistible offerings, while the traditional street market in the Plaza Mayor also excels due to its wide selection of figures for nativity scenes.
What is more, the Christmas Market in Puerto Portals, which turns on its illuminations from 13 December until 6 January, invites you to enjoy a stroll among its luminous garlands, fir trees and stalls filled with decorative articles, toys and other items. accessories. The experience is rounded off with a skating rink that will delight children and adults alike.
In Port Adriano, from 20 December to 7 January, you can explore the Christmas Park, with its impressive 300 square metre ecological ice rink and a giant 30-metre slide. In addition, the range of cuisine on offer and the food stalls will ensure you enjoy a full-day’s outing by the sea. The park will be open from 12:00 to 20:00, except on 24th and 31st December, when it closes at 16:00.
Music to celebrate Christmas
And on top of all that, on 12th December, the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears (Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands) is hosting an exclusive concert as part of the Cicle Auditorium de Palma, in the Sala Magna. Under the direction of Pablo Mielgo, and with violinist Gidon Kremer playing as a soloist, the repertoire includes musical gems such as the Violin Concerto by V. Kissine, the first notebook of Iberia by I. Albéniz and the Danzas Fantásticas by J. Turina.
