At Nivia Born Boutique Hotel we have created a new concept, “Pillow Talk”, to get to know two emerging local artists who exhibit their works at our hotel: Elena Covas and Rebeca Morey, students of the ADEMA University School.
What inspires Elena Covas and Rebeca Morey?
In this first “Pillow Talk”, Elena and Rebeca tell us from the premises of our hotel how experimentation or chaos can be elements in their creative processes. Through this conversation, we discover how both artists use materials, such as plastics recovered from the sea and reused fabrics, giving them a new life through art. The works on display are aligned with two of our key pillars: sustainability and the local community.
Rebeca Morey, with her piece Reflejo diáfano, invites us to reflect on the accumulation, treatment and increase of plastic waste. Her work not only transforms this material into art, but also questions our relationship with the environment and sustainability.
Elena Covas, with Pliegues y nudos en direcciones fluctuantes, presents an irregular arrangement of materials that echoes everyday journeys, while at the same time accentuating the infinite number of changes possible during the journey from one point to another.
The two young artists have exhibited their works at the Fundació Barceló and the Museu del Calçat, and will soon be exhibiting at the Chelsea College of Arts in London. Would you like to know more about their creative processes and the stories behind their work?
Also, don’t miss the Making of, where you can see exclusive images of the installation and discover how these pieces come to life in the spaces of Nivia Born Boutique Hotel!
The Nit de l’Art: a unique experience
For the first time, we are participating as an exhibition space in Palma’s art trail, reaffirming our commitment to contemporary art, sustainability and the local community. As official sponsors of the three major events of Art Palma Contemporani -the Nit de l’Art, the Art Palma Summer and the Art Palma Brunch-, At Nivia Born Boutique Hotel we are committed to supporting new talent in Mallorca. Art is an essential part of our identity, and what better way to celebrate it than by taking an active part in the Nit de l’Art 2024.
