Art Palma Summer 2023 wants to celebrate artistic creativity in Palma once more with an ambitious programme that includes more than twenty exhibitions, and features over 40 international and local artists from different generations, showcasing a range of creative disciplines. There are also guided tours available, encouraging a wide range of people to visit, promote contemporary art and bring it closer to the public.
At a press conference celebrated at Nivia Born Boutique Hotel, event sponsor, the organisers (Art Palma Contemporani) announced that the event will take place on Thursday the 8th of June between 6 and 9 p.m. at the participating galleries: ABA Art Lab, Baró, CCA Andratx, Fran Reus, Kewenig Palma, L21 Gallery, Galería Maior, Galería Pelaires, Pep Llabrés Art Contemporani, and Galería Xavier Fiol. On this occasion, two further prestigious galleries with considerable trajectory will also be taking part: the Italian M77 Gallery and PGallery.
Visitors can see individual exhibitions and collections by Balearic artists, free of charge, with highlights including works by Adrià Mayordomo and Francesc Rosselló, and international renowned artists such as Sharon Lockhart (L21 Palma), Mounir Fatmi (Baró), Markus Lüpertz (Kewenig), or Mathijs Siemens (Xavier Fiol).
This year’s edition has an important number of projects created by female artists including Anke Blaue (Aba Art Lab), Trine Søndergaard (CCA Andratx), Florencia Bohtlingk (Baró), Esther Miquel (Galería Fran Reus), Sharon Lockhart and Renata de Bonis (L21), Susana Solano (Maior), Aileen Murphy and Jorinde Voigt (Pelaires).
Aiming to maximise synergies, the following institutions will also be presenting their own collections on the day: CaixaForum Palma, Casal Solleric, Fundació Miró Mallorca, Museu Fundación Juan March, and Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma. Prior to the event, a group of art critics, collectors, and curators will be visiting all the venues to get to know the local art scene and promote it internationally.
