2024 opens with the promise of a unique celebration: the night of the Three Kings, which brings the magic of Christmas back to the streets of Palma for the enjoyment of children and adults alike. On 5 January, the city prepares to welcome Their Majesties, who parade in impressive floats amidst an atmosphere of joy and illusion.
After the arrival of the Royal Pages in the Plaza de Cort on 3 January at 12 noon, Palma is experiencing two days of anxious waiting before the long-awaited Three Kings Cavalcade on the afternoon of 5 January. Unlike in other cities, Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar disembark at the Moll Vell, before setting off on a lively route along Avinguda Antoni Maura, Passeig del Born, Plaça Rei Joan Carles I, Carrer Unió, La Rambla, Carrer Baró de Pinopar, Avinguda Alemanya, Avinguda de Portugal, Passeig Mallorca, Avinguda Jaume III and Plaça Rei Joan Carles I.
The parades, the sweets, the gifts and the musical and entertaining performances will bring huge smiles to the faces of your family’s youngest members on the night of the Three Kings, before the nostalgic gaze of the adults, who recall their own childhood stories on a bewitching night that no family should miss.
Festive music, dazzling lights and a cheerful atmosphere on the streets encourage people to continue celebrating Twelfth Night with a stop at any of the quaint cafés that populate the centre, or the more authentic bars and restaurants. If you want to treat yourself to a high quality gastronomic proposal, choose any of the following Michelin-starred restaurants, some of which have special offers during these dates.
A cultural event to round off the Christmas festivities
On the morning of 6 January, it has been a tradition for almost 40 years to perform the Adoration of the Three Kings of Orient by the writer Llorenç Moyà. Members of civil society (writers, singers, artists…) and politicians come together in Ses Voltes to perform a drama in verse whose plot focuses on the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem after the birth of Jesus. Always, sprinkled with jocular allusions to current affairs.
