Created during the pandemic, the Orfeó Balear continues its concert activities this 2024 with new performances that pay tribute to great classics, ones that we at Nivia Born Boutique would like to recommend you because of their unquestionable musical quality.
With Daniel Mulet leading from the front as artistic and musical director, the Orfeó Balear is today a benchmark choir on the Balearic Islands with a tone and colour that will lift you out of your seat. Read on to find out more about the concert schedule.
As part of the III Festival Balear de Música Clàssica, on Saturday 23rd March the Orfeó Balear and the Orquestra Camerata Balear will perform Fauré’s Requiem (Haydn’s Symphony 101 and other works by Fauré) in the Basílica de Sant Francesc, in Palma, at 8:45 pm.
The next performance by the prestigious choral family will be the Opera Gala 2024, scheduled for Saturday the 27th of July at 8:30 pm in the historic cloister of Montesión, also in Palma’s old quarter. Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, Mascagni, Mozart… “The most magical moments in the world of opera” – as defined on the poster – starring the Orfeó Balear and the Orquestra Camerata Balear.
Two months later, the Sala Magna of the Palma Auditorium will host Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on Sunday the 29th of September at 7:00 pm, coinciding with the bicentenary of its première. The Orfeó Balear together with the Orquesta Sinfónica Europea (a total of 150 people on stage) will thrill the audience with a performance of the Viennese composer’s last symphony, recognisable the world over.
