Maica Galea de Haro: a true passion for tourism
Maica is much more than the reception manager at Nivia Born Boutique Hotel; she is a true tourism enthusiast. With 20 years of experience in the industry, she has dedicated her career to providing memorable experiences for the guests she has accompanied. “Tourism makes us grow, gives us vitality and places us in the here and now; two keys to happiness”, she says. Her definition of success goes beyond tangible achievements; for Maica, success is about personal satisfaction and the journey it takes to achieve professional goals.
Her advice to women aspiring to leadership positions is clear and powerful: never forget your values and keep humility as a constant guide on your path to success.
Annemette Sloth: rising to each new challenge with flying colours
As director of Nivia Born Boutique Hotel, Annemette embodies the spirit of leadership and determination. With a long career in the world of tourism, she has held positions ranging from tour guide or receptionist to hotel manager. Her greatest achievement to date is the successful opening of the Nivia Born Boutique Hotel in the midst of the pandemic, a challenge she tackled with enthusiasm and determination.
If she had to give advice to her past self, Annemette says she would tell herself to be more patient and to think more than twice before saying things. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to overcome challenges are inspiring examples for all women seeking to excel in their careers.
Asked about her professional successes, Annemette answers that there are two she will never forget: a season in which she managed to significantly improve customer satisfaction in a hotel that was still to be refurbished and another year in which she achieved environmental recognition for a hotel in record time (one and a half months). “Nothing is impossible!” is a motto she has always believed in.
Both Maica and Annemette have defied expectations and, along with many other women, continue to make their mark in tourism and beyond.
