As happens every year, Palma is dressed up to celebrate Christmas with an interesting range of markets that will make you feel part of a Christmas fairytale. During this time of the year, the city embraces the most festive atmosphere, without neglecting tradition, present in the 208 stalls that are spread along Plaza Mayor, Las Ramblas and, this year, the Parc de Ses Estacions. The Fira de Nadal i Reis 2023 can be visited between 10am and 9pm from Monday to Sunday until 6 January. Tourists and residents alike will find craft products, typical sweets, toys, a variety of Christmas items… as well as lights, colour and a joyful atmosphere.
The decorated stalls are also a constant feature in the Pueblo Español until 17 December. Father Christmas will be there to greet the youngest members of the family, who will also be able to let their imagination run wild with a special programme of activities. The smell of roasting chestnuts, hot chocolate and gingerbread biscuits will accompany you on your stroll through the beautifully decorated Pueblo Español. It is a large open-air museum that will also immerse you in Spain’s architectural heritage, with styles from different periods: Moorish, Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance. Tickets can be purchased on the website and include a wine or hot chocolate (your choice).
Rata Market will have a Christmas version on the 8th, 9th and 10th of December in Palma’s Palacio de Congresos. From 10:30am to 8:30pm, more than 2,000 square metres of local and sustainable products will be open to the public. Unlike conventional fairs, Rata Market Nadal 2023 will showcase 80 art, design and craft projects. See the full programme.
Christmas by the sea
If you want to continue with a day of Christmas shopping or simply continue to enjoy the magic of this time of year, we recommend a trip to the Christmas Market in Puerto Portals. The garlands of lights and fir trees will welcome you to a flea market with decorative items, accessories and wooden toys, among others, and a skating rink for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t miss it between 14 December and 6 January.
In the same municipality, Calvià, Port Adriano joins in the Christmas celebrations in style with the Parque de Navidad (Christmas Park), available from 22 December until 8 January from 12 to 8pm. This installation will have food and drink stalls, the largest ecological ice rink in Mallorca, with 300 square metres, and a giant 30-metre slide.
