We’re not alone in saying this; scientific studies back it up. Travelling brings happiness, even from the moment you decide to travel. When we travel, not only do we break with our routine, but our neurons have to work to create new connections that will leave us with memories to last a lifetime. Facing new situations, contemplating never-before-seen scenery or experiencing stimulating sensations through aromas, tastes or sounds are more than enough reasons to pack your bags and head for the next destination on your check-list – not to mention the benefit in terms of your emotional well-being.
Sightseeing has become more than a hobby. A way to disconnect in order to reconnect, with the opportunity to be surprised and excited. Who doesn’t enjoy being taken by the richness of other cultures and people or broadening their vision of the world? For all this and because – paraphrasing the American writer Helen Keller – “life is either an adventure or it is nothing”, at Nivia Born Boutique Hotel we want to celebrate World Tourism Day with you, sealing our commitment to protect and preserve the environment that we love so much and that gives us so many experiences.
We would like to remind you of the importance of exploring the island and its capital, Palma, in a responsible way, respecting its natural beauty, cultural expressions and, as far as possible, contributing to the well-being of the local community. That is the formula for future generations to be able to continue to discover the enormous wealth of this paradise.
Sustainability, a passport to the future
Maintaining the health of this beautiful destination is fundamental in ensuring its preservation. For this reason, at Nivia Born Boutique Hotel we have made a firm commitment to replace the ‘amenities’ with reusable dispensers and we collaborate with Mallorcan companies committed to the health of the planet such as Tot Herba, a pioneer in natural cosmetics in Spain. In our rooms, you will find organic shampoos, gels and conditioners, with a 100% local almond base. Also, healthy snacks from the Mallorcan countryside.
Tradition and the link with our land extend to our kitchens and this is reflected in our menu, where Mediterranean-inspired dishes abound and will have you experience the flavours of the local culture. We believe in conscious gastronomy in all its aspects. To do this, we always use km 0, organic and seasonal products whenever possible
Practice responsible tourism
Your actions can also make a difference in protecting the places you travel to. Not only that, but by adopting some of the simple measures detailed below, you will be able to connect more deeply with the destination and its people for a more authentic getaway:
- Walk or cycle wherever possible and use public transport for longer journeys.
- Choose accommodation committed to environmental sustainability for your stay. It supports establishments that do away with disposable packaging and are committed to local trade.
- Respect the local fauna and flora when visiting beaches, parks, etc. and don’t leave litter in your wake.
- Interact with the local community in a respectful way and support hand crafted weaving by buying authentic, sustainable and ethical products.
- Be aware of energy and water consumption in your accommodation. Turn on the lights and air conditioning when you need them and use the towels in a proper fashion.
- Prioritise unpackaged products and try to reduce the waste you generate as much as possible, separate it out and put it in recycling bins.
