Although the high temperatures and clear skies of the last few days may lead us to confusion, autumn is already a reality in Mallorca. With the ‘Veranillo de San Miguel’ in its last throes, locals and visitors are getting ready for a very pleasant time of the year to enjoy outdoor leisure activities, but also to resume indoor plans. At Nivia Born Boutique Hotel we have some ideas to help you make the most of your free time.
Travel by train to Sóller
It opened in 1912 and has been in operation ever since. The century-old wooden railway of Sóller, with its unusual charm, will take you to one of the most beautiful villages in the Serra de Tramuntana. The journey starts at the centrally located Sóller train station, an attraction in itself.
A Mediterranean pine forest, olive groves typical of the Serra de Tramuntana, the fantastic Sóller Valley and a spectacular viewpoint (Pujol d’en Banya) are just some of the surprises you will find on your journey before discovering the magic of a town full of modernist houses that made it onto the list of the Best European Destinations in 2023.
The Vuit de la Seu is back
If you have not yet witnessed the phenomenon of the Vuit de la Seu in the Cathedral, you will have another chance this November.. On Saturday 11th, coinciding with the feast of St. Martin, the temple will once again be lit up with the day’s first rays of sunlight to offer a spectacle of colours that you will undoubtedly want to immortalise with your camera.
Dijous Bo or ‘Big Thursday’
Dijous Bo is an autumn fair not to be missed, whether you live in Mallorca or are just passing through. This year it will be held on 16 November and, as usual, will bring together traders, artisans and thousands of onlookers from all over the world. On this day, Inca is transformed into a large open-air market, with hundreds of stalls where the island’s typical produce is king. There is also no lack of cultural and sporting activities.
