On World Environment Day, at Nivia Born Boutique Hotel we want to proclaim our ecological stance as openly and sincerely as possible. Because words are worthless if they are not backed up with concrete actions and real initiatives that protect our lands and support our community. Do you want to more about our practices? Gastronomy with a local focus
If you visit our restaurant The Lounge, you will notice that we have done away with plastic containers and the water is filtered and served in glass bottles. Our menu also includes a wide selection of local products from Mallorcan suppliers such as Sa Teulera, Panadería Reina Maria Cristina, Fruita Bona, Murmui, Agromallorca, Quely, Associació Estel de Llevant and Gori de Muro. Among the delicacies you can taste are the authentic Mallorcan sobrasada, the traditional country bread, the delicious cured Mahón cheese and ramallet tomatoes, as well as the exquisite virgin olive oil. We also serve wines and spirits with Designation of Origin (DO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
Our priorities include informed purchasing and the promotion of local and seasonal produce, which not only supports local farmers and producers, but also helps keep the Mallorcan countryside in excellent condition.
Reducing the ecological footprint
We want every aspect of your stay to reflect our commitment to sustainability. That’s why you’ll always find an AquaViva glass bottle in your room that you can reuse as often as you like. We also have Nespresso coffee machines with 100% compostable capsules. We ask you to do your bit with us by handing in your used capsules at reception for proper recycling.
We are also proud of our partnership with Tot Herba, a pioneering Mallorcan natural cosmetics company. In your room, you can try Flor d’Ametler skin and hair care products, made with Mallorcan almonds and other natural ingredients. The dispensers are returnable and refillable, creating a circular supply system within Palma.
A legacy of sustainability
Nivia Born Boutique Hotel is part of Garden Hotels, a hotel chain with more than 30 years of experience, recognised for its dedication to sustainability sustainability. Garden Hotels has become the first hotel chain in Europe to receive the AENOR Circular Economy Strategy and has been awarded the Best Sustainable Tourism Project at the Tourism Innovation Awards 2021. One of its most prominent projects has been the transformation of organic waste from hotels into high quality organic compost.
